Skeletal remains found in El Paso County, identified as 55-year-old man

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities in El Paso County have identified skeletal remains they found on Saturday as a 55-year-old man.

On Saturday around 9:14 a.m., deputies with the El Paso Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 4600 block of S. Academy Boulevard to respond to a suspicious incident.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the skeletal remains of a person in a rock bed, according to the sheriff's office. They also found a cell phone, gym bag and hoodie jacket nearby.

The person has been identified as 55-year-old James L. Suggs, according to the sheriff's office. As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, foul play was not suspected. There was no indication of trauma.

The coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of his death.

The sheriff’s office said it would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the family and friends of Suggs.
