UPDATE — Larry Erickson was been found safe around 10:50 a.m.
...
GOLDEN, Colo. — Golden police are searching for a 78-year-old man who was last seen around midnight.
Larry Erickson has dementia and Parkinson’s disease and was released from the Jefferson County jail early Wednesday. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for him just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.
An ambulance was requested to bring him from the jail to the VA Hospital once he was released, but he left the lobby and the ambulance crew could not find him.
Police said Erickson used a debit card to buy a bus pass. That card was last used just before 2 a.m. at a convenience store around Broadway and 73rd Avenue in northwest Denver.
Erickson has violent tendencies, so police ask anybody who sees him to call 911 and, if possible, to keep an eye on his whereabouts.
Erickson is 5 feet, 11 inches and weighs about 200 pounds. He has white hair and a white beard. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, dark-colored shirt, green sweatpants and black shoes, and was carrying a paper or plastic bag.
If you have information on where he may be, call Golden police at 303-980-7300.
