Shooting victims, 1 dead, found in pickup in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A homicide investigation is underway in Colorado Springs after two shooting victims were found inside a pickup.

Police responded to the 6300 block of La Plata Peak Drive shortly before 5 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of multiple shots fired.

When they arrived on the scene, officers learned a pickup truck had been shot at but was no longer in the area. Dispatchers broadcast the pickup description and the vehicle was located a short time later in the 6100 block of Barnes Road.

Police said they discovered two males in the pickup. One was dead from an apparent gunshot wound and the other was injured. The injured man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s homicide unit is actively investigating the shooting. Officers said there was no danger to the public.
