DENVER – A shooting was reported near the Colorado State Capitol late Thursday, as demonstrators marched through downtown Denver for an eighth straight night calling for change following the death of George Floyd.
The shooting happened in the area of Colfax Avenue and Broadway sometime before 10 p.m., with police saying one person had been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Thirty minutes later, officials said two people possibly related to the scene of the shooting had walked in to a hospital. One of them was being treated for gunshot wounds while the other was being treated for stab wounds.
The shooting did not appear to be connected to the protests in any way, according to an officer who talked with Denver Post reporters.
Information about a suspect was not immediately available.
