A suspect who barricaded himself inside a mobile home with a woman was later shot and killed by members of the Larimer County SWAT team.

The sheriff's office was called to the mobile home on 401 N Timberline Road around 11:35 p.m. Friday on reports of a possible domestic violence situation, according to Lt. Bobby Moll.

Surrounding homes were evacuated.

"The SWAT team arrived and they came out with negotiators. After a lengthy negotiation and barricaded episode,  shots were fired and the subject was deceased," said Moll.

The standoff ended around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the SWAT team entered the room where the suspect and hostage were barricaded.

"The deputy reported that he believed the suspect had a weapon in his hand as he advanced on him. A Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy discharged his firearm at the suspect, striking him, and the suspect was pronounced deceased at Poudre Valley Hospital," Moll said.

Authorities were not releasing the names of victim or the suspect.

The suspect was the ex-boyfriend of the victim who lived in the home, Moll told Denver7.

She was checked out at the hospital and released. Information about the extent of her injuries was not available.

The deputy who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the incident.
