PARK COUNTY, Colo. – The Shawnee Peak Fire in Park County was about 46 acres and 10% contained on Thursday, officials said.

Crews were making "great progress" on battling the fire, as they patrolled fire lines, and monitored any new fire spots outside of the perimeter, according to the Pike National Forest. The fire is near the town of Shawnee, about 50 miles southwest of Denver.

No structures were at risk as of Thursday. The following trailheads were still closed: Payne Creek/Brookside McCurdy, Brookside AG, North Ben Tyler, Rock Creek, Long Gulch, and North Fork.

The fire was first reported at 3:15 p.m. Monday in a remote area of the Lost Creek Wilderness, roughly five or six miles southwest of the town of Bailey and east of Kenosha Pass. The Park County Sheriff’s Office blocked all roads leading to the area that was burning, but those were back open by Tuesday morning.
