LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Four apartment units were damaged and the residents were displaced following a fire at the Camden Lakeway Apartments in Lakewood early on New Year's Day.
Gary Armstrong, public information officer with West Metro Fire, said they received a report of a structure fire at 1:37 a.m. at the Camden Lakeway Apartments, located at 7355 Grant Ranch Boulevard in Lakewood. The apartments are three stories.
Armstrong said the fire started outside one of the buildings, possibly on a deck. It then spread to inside the unit and the adjacent units.
In total, four units were damaged by the fire and water from the hoses. Armstrong said three or four families who lived in the units have been displaced.
One person was medically evaluated at the scene for mild smoke inhalation, but was released. There were no other reported injuries.
Some pets were saved by firefighters whose owners had self-evacuated, Armstrong said. None of the residents needed rescuing.
The fire was under control as of 3:10 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
