AURORA, Colo. – The intersection of E. Smith Road and S. Sable Boulevard was shut down just before 11 a.m. Monday after a RTD A Line train collided with a semi truck at the RTD crossing.

Aurora police said the intersection should stay closed “for an extended time” as officers investigate. They said minor injuries were reported in the crash.

RTD said buses were being used on the A Line between Central Park Station and the 40th and Airport Station. Eastbound trains are leaving Union Station on the hour and half hour, and are leaving the 40th and Airport Station at :22 and :42 past each hour. Westbound trains are leaving the airport at :27 and :57 past the hour and from Central Park station at :19 and :49 past the hour, RTD said.

Police said drivers should use Chambers Road and I-70 or Colfax as alternative routes.

Flaggers had previously been stationed along most of the intersections on the A Line but they were removed in December after RTD got federal approval for their crossing gates.
