LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A second person has died after a driver allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another car in Lakewood early Sunday morning.

On Tuesday, the Lakewood Police Department said the driver of the car that was struck had died. The passenger in the car had died at the scene Sunday.

They were identified as 30-year-old Jesse Edmonds and 26-year-old Jacob Bowen, both of Kansas.

Police said the crash occurred at the intersection of S. Kipling Street and W. Alameda Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday. Lakewood Police Agent Lindsay Jones previously told Denver7 that the driver going eastbound on W. Alameda Avenue ran the red light at the intersection and crashed into a car that had a green light and was traveling south on S. Kipling Street.

Three people from the vehicle that ran the red light were taken to the hospital, as well as the driver of the other car.

The intersection was closed for about 10 hours as authorities investigated the crash.

Police said no charges have been filed since all parties are still being treated at the hospital. They said they are working to learn if alcohol or drugs were involved.

The investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Bowen's family pay for funeral expenses. For more information, click here.
