EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities are searching for a 26-year-old Eagle County man who was last seen Tuesday.
Tayler Esslinger, of Gypsum, who is a detention deputy with the county and also a volunteer firefighter with the Gypsum Fire Protection District, was believed to be heading into the mountains, according to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.
More details about his location were not available.
Esslinger was driving a black 2011 Dodge pickup truck. The truck had firefighter license plates with the plate number 719YBC. Esslinger didn't tell anyone he was going hiking, but officials do not suspect foul play at this time, the sheriff's office said. His brother reported him missing.
A search party was still looking for Esslinger on Thursday, and searchers were trying to get the word out to hikers and backcountry campers in the Eagle County area.
Anyone who has seen Esslinger's pickup or who has information about him is asked to call the Eagle County Sheriff's Office or the Vail Public Safety Communications Center at 940-479-2201.
