LAPORTE, Colo. — The Seaman Fire continues to burn in the lower Poudre Canyon Thursday.
The fire, which can be seen from Gateway Park and as far as Fort Collins, was estimated at 231 acres as of Thursday at 11 a.m., according to the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland (ARP) Forest Service. As of Thursday at noon, there were 120 firefighters working on the fire.
Greyrock Trail and Hewlett Gulch Trail are closed to the public. Fort Collins's Gateway Park Natural Area is also closed until further notice.
The Seaman Fire started Tuesday afternoon near the Seaman Reservoir. At that point, it was only three to five acres. It grew to about 150 acres that evening, and then surpassed 200 acres.
Officials said the fire is about 25 percent contained. It made a slight run toward the southeast overnight and stopped on the north shore of the Poudre River, according to the Forest Service.
The Red Flag Warning from Wednesday will carry over into Thursday until 8 p.m. in north-central Colorado due to the gusty winds and dry conditions.
