THORNTON, Colo. – An unfounded report a student had brought a gun to Academy High School Thursday morning locked down the Skyview Campus for more than an hour.
Police were called to the campus just after 9 a.m. after a student told an administrator they saw another student putting what was thought to be a gun in their backpack.
Officers reviewed surveillance video and were able to identify the student, but found no gun in his backpack.
The student was released to his parents and will not be charged.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but the lockdown was lifted by 11 a.m.
There are six schools on the Skyview Campus that were locked down during the search: Academy High, Big Picture College and Career Academy, Clayton Partnership School, Mapleton Early College, Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts and the North Valley School for Young Adults.
