DENVER – Democratic presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders both expanded their Colorado staff Thursday as they push ahead toward the March 3 Super Tuesday primary.
Warren announced she had hired PaaWee Rivera, who previously worked on her 2018 Senate campaign, to be her state director in Colorado and announced she would open several field offices, including in Denver and Boulder.
Sanders announced that Tim Dickson, a Colorado political campaign veteran who most recently fought conservative recall efforts of Democratic state lawmakers, would be the state field director in Colorado for his campaign. Pilar Chapa has been Sanders’ state director since June.
Both Sanders and Warren have already visited the Denver area – Sanders at a Denver rally in September at Civic Center Park, and Warren at an Aurora event in April.
Sanders won Colorado’s 2016 caucuses, which have since been replaced by an open primary that is set for Super Tuesday.
Michael Bennet, the senator from Colorado, is the other major Democratic presidential candidate with staff in Colorado.
The announcements from the Sanders and Warren campaigns came on the same day Michael Bloomberg, another Democratic presidential candidate, unveiled his anti-gun violence proposal in Aurora.
