DENVER -- Water service has been restored to 13 businesses following a water main break near South Colorado Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.
But several of those businesses remain closed because the southbound lanes on a two-block stretch of S. Colorado are still shut down.
The road won't reopen until crews can repair the pavement ruptured by water.
That could take several hours.
This is the second water main break on South Colorado Blvd. this year.
A break in early January shut the major thoroughfare down near Buchtel Boulevard.
Thirteen businesses were impacted by this latest break. Among them, a car wash and several restaurants.
"I have no idea what I'm going to do now," said Fadumo Adan, while on her lunch break. "Starbucks is closed."
When asked what caused the break, Jose Salas of Denver Water said, "Age may have played a role, but it's not the only thing that can cause a water main break. There's also temperature and soil movement."
When water service was restored, the staff at the car wash jumped for joy.
Those at the restaurants may too, once the road surface has been repaired.
