DENVER – The University of Colorado A Line service to the airport has been disrupted after the train struck a woman who was sitting on the tracks early Friday morning.
It happened around 1 a.m. on the tracks near 30th and Blake Streets. Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital with critical injuries.
The woman's friend, who described the victim as being in her 20s, told Denver7 on scene that the woman was conscious at the hospital.
It's not clear why the woman was sitting on the tracks. At least 28 passengers were onboard the commuter rail cars at the time of the incident. They were transferred to another train.
Passengers heading to the airport on the A Line will be connected via shuttle buses between Denver Union Station and Central Park Station.
Passengers will be asked to get off the train and transfer to a shuttle bus, making stops at 38th/ Blake Station and Colorado Station, RTD said.
There is no estimated time on when service will be restored.
