RTD riders will soon begin noticing fare changes.
RTD will roll out new fares on Friday for three trip options, for both the train and bus service: local, regional and airport.
A one-way local fare will increase from $2.25 to $2.60. Monthly passes will go up in price by $20 to about $100.
Customers can now purchase day passes for unlimited trips, anywhere in the system. Those will cost a little more than $5.
Flat rates will be in effect for trips to and from the airport; it'll cost $9 each way.
Half-fare discounts will be available for: students ages 6-19, Medicare recipients, people with disabilities and people who are 65 and older. A one-way local trip will cost $1.30 with the discount; the regional and airport rates will be $4.50.
Active military personnel can ride for free.
Local and regional rates are based on zones. Traveling in up to two zones is considered a local fare. They're pictured on the map above, and here.
Fares will increase for all of RTD's routes, so check them before riding.
RTD hasn't changed its rates since 2011.
