You might still be buzzing about the Broncos big win against Kansas City, but we're now looking ahead to this year's Rocky Mountain Showdown.
Kickoff is Saturday at 5 p.m. MDT and the lots will open four hours earlier for tailgating. But fans will notice some changes.
The Denver Police Department plans to have a number of uniformed and plain-clothed officers roaming the lots, keeping unruly fans in check.
Those officers will primarily be looking for underage drinking and over-consumption.
"Our number one goal is to help maintain a safe environment for fans to enjoy the game and root for their teams," said Doug Schepman, spokesman for the DPD. “Ensuring that safe environment means that underage drinking or violations of any law are not going to be tolerated."
The DPD also sent a letter to each school stating, “The names of all students cited, arrested and/or ejected from the property will be shared with the CU and CSU offices of student conduct.”
In addition to these things, the NFL’s clear bag policy will be in place even though it’s a college game.
“As they arrive, we want all their items - personal items - to be in these clear bags,” said Scott Bliek, assistant general manager at Sports Authority Field. “We can quickly screen them."
Bliek said fans will also pass through metal detectors, but fans can keep their jewelry, belts and keys on their person as they pass through.
"Let's keep it friendly,” said CSU athletic director Joe Parker. “Rivalries are great, especially if you can keep them above board and be positive. You know, we need to cheer for our team, obviously. But, let's not turn it against the Buffaloes. We need to be focused on who we are and appreciate everything about ourselves."
