Officials with the city of Aurora and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport have confirmed that the Rocky Mountain Airshows scheduled for each location in 2016 have been canceled.
"Rocky Mountain Aviation defaulted on their agreement," according to Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
The city of Aurora did not say why its air show was canceled, but confirmed it was canceled.
The Navy's Blue Angels were scheduled to appear at the Rocky Mountain Air Show, but the Blue Angels sent out a news release Monday that said the team was going to participate in the California Capital Air Show in Sacramento, California, instead of the Rocky Mountain Airshow.
"Because the Blue Angels participation in the Rocky Mountain Air Show was the foundation for Denver Navy Week,
that event has also been canceled," the Navy Office of Community Outreach said in a statement sent to Denver7.
Last year's event at the Aurora Reservoir became a mess when traffic jammed and many ticket holders couldn't get to the show. Organizers had to issue refunds to hundreds of people.
