Rockies' home opener coldest in franchise history; second coldest first pitch

DENVER – After a one-hour delay, the Colorado Rockies threw the first pitch when temperatures only reached 27 degrees, making it the coldest home opener and the second coldest first pitch in franchise history.  

The team announced at about 1 p.m. Friday that the afternoon game against the Atlanta Braves was delayed because of snow falling at Coors Field.

The game was originally set to start at 2:10 p.m.
