Rock spire falls to earth, changing Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah

BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Utah – The elements of time is being blamed for dramatic changes to an iconic rock spire in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

Park officials say a hoodoo known as the Sentinel has fallen. A hoodoo is a geological term to describe a tall spiraling rock.

The park tweeted out photos showing a side-by-side comparison of the rock formation before and after the collapse.

The Sentinel is a popular hoodoo viewable from the Navajo Loop inside the park located in southwestern Utah.
