GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The Roaring Fork School District says it will be a safe environment for immigrant students amid racially motivated incidents across the country following the presidential election.

The Post Independent reportsthat on Wednesday the school board unanimously approved a resolution declaring schools in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Basalt "safe havens" for immigrant students. The resolution states that the district will not discriminate in offering an education to students whose immigration status may be in question.

The resolution states that Colorado public schools are required to provide an education to any resident of the state between the ages of 6 and 21, regardless of immigration status.

The Denver school board passed a similar resolution last month.
