COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – President Donald Trump once considered Red Rock Canyon in Colorado Springs as a location for a possible new resort.

Real estate agent Jeany Rush told the Colorado Springs Gazette that she attempted to broker a deal between the Trump Organization and the property’s owner at the time, John S. Bock.

The Gazette reports the Trump Organization sent a team in a helicopter to assess the land’s potential but ultimately passed on the $15 million deal.

The natural area was the subject of speculation from other developers as well, including one who wanted to build several golf courses, a shopping center and homes on the land, according to The Gazette.

Those deals all fell through and the city of Colorado Springs eventually bought the property for $12 million in 2003.

The Red Rock Canyon Open Space has since become a popular place for hiking, cycling, climbing and other outdoor activities.
