COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Some registered sex offenders in Colorado will hear a knock on their door today, but they won’t open the door to trick-or-treaters.

On Halloween, staff with Colorado Department of Corrections Division of Adult Parole will work alongside local law enforcement agencies to randomly visit the homes of registered sex offenders who are currently on parole.

All offenders who are supervised under sex offender directives are not allowed to participate in any Halloween activities, which includes trick-or-treating or answering the door for trick-or-treaters.

Instead, they have been directed to turn off their outside lights between the hours of 4 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday.

Offenders who do not comply with those restrictions may be taken back into custody.
