LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Colorado chapter of the American Red Cross provided support in the form of both supplies and shelter for dozens impacted by an apartment complex's roof collapse Sunday afternoon.
Fifty-six residents of the Maplewood Village Apartment Complex required emergency assistance, including blankets, food, hygiene items and shelter.
Overnight, three residents were housed by American Red Cross workers. Just before 3 p.m. on Monday, Red Cross officials said they had taken care of the long term needs of those residents whose homes had all but been destroyed by the collapse.
Their aid will continue, however, as they bring additional food to the apartment complex to help those in need.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collapse; officials evacuated residents from the building closest to 9th and Wadsworth on Sunday afternoon.
