AURORA, Colo. – Family and friends of Lashaya Stine, an Aurora teen who’s been missing for over a year, are holding a fundraiser this weekend in an effort to increase the amount of reward money being offered.
Stine was last seen at around 2:30 a.m. on July 15, 2016 in the area of East Montview Boulevard and Peoria Street in northwestern Aurora. The last workable lead regarding Stine’s disappearance was a video police released in August of last year. In it, Stine can be seen walking down the street.
This weekend’s fundraiser, called ‘Spades for a Cause,’ takes place Saturday, Aug. 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Gibby’s Big Backyard, 1555 S. Havana St. in Aurora. The event will feature games like spades and dominoes as well as a silent auction and raffle.
Rapper Chingy, probably best known for his 2003 hit “Right Thurr,” is scheduled to make a special appearance at the fundraiser as well. See the flyer below for more details:
The reward for information about Stine’s disappearance currently stands at a little over $6,000 and Stine’s mother, Sabrina Jones, said the goal of the fundraiser is to increase the amount to at least $10,000. Tips continue to come in but they’ve become less frequent in recent months, Jones said.
Stine is 5-foot-7-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. She has long black hair, brown eyes and a quarter-sized, round scar on her chest. Police said she typically wears a silver watch on her left wrist.
Anyone with information about Stine is asked to call the Aurora Police Department at (303) 739-6130 or (303) 739-6109. If you wish to submit an anonymous tip, you can do so by calling Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.
