CASTLE PINES, Colo. -- Recording an album and releasing a music video is what this Colorado 16-year-old calls a summer job.
Taylor Rae is spending her summer singing and song writing. Rae's been singing since she was 3 years old but now her dream is becoming reality.
This summer is keeping her busy.
"For me, this is kind of like my summer job, but it's not just for the summer. I'm working hard that this is something I can do for a long time, " Rae said.
The Castle Pines native has an album that was released earlier this month. One song on it, "13 Stripes and 50 Stars," is taking off.
A music video to the song was released on Tuesday. The song is now playing on a handful of radio stations across the country. Rae is working closely with top producers and songwriters out of Nashville.
Rae said the song, "13 Stripes and 50 Stars," was written nine years ago, but the songwriters wanted to wait for the right person to take it on.
"It was really cool to experience. I know what it's like to write your own song and you have a lot of attachments to it and for them to feel so attached and feel like I'm the right person for it is really special," Rae said.
Country music is what she loves to sing.
"I've grown up listening to country music, and I'm kind of a cowgirl at heart, " Rae said.
