PUEBLO, Colo. – Pueblo police shot a man Monday evening at a Kohl’s department store after the man allegedly tried to run over an officer.

Pueblo police say its officer responded to the Kohl’s on North Elizabeth Street on a shoplifting call around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The department says its officers found the suspect in a stolen car in front of the store. Officers tried to block in the car, which is when the department says the man tried to run over an officer.

An unknown number of officers shot the suspect, who was taken to an area hospital.

The man’s condition is unknown and his identity has yet to be released. Pueblo police say the case has been handed over to the 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team to review.
