Pueblo PD K-9 Officer Widget makes second $1 million cocaine bust in 6 weeks

Posted

PUEBLO, Colo. – One of the Pueblo Police Department’s sharp-nosed K-9s has helped police make their second million-dollar cocaine bust in less than two months.

K-9 Officer Widget made a $1.1 million bust in October; he found the drugs in a car coming up I-25.

And Widget smelled out another drug smuggler Saturday afternoon, when he sniffed out nearly $1.1 million in suspected cocaine after an officer pulled over a vehicle that was allegedly weaving through traffic at the time.

Pueblo police say the packaged cocaine was hidden somewhere in the car. Officers arrested Jose Alonso Calderon Garcia, 34, and charged him with possession of a Schedule-II drug with intent to distribute.

Police say the cocaine was headed for Denver from Mexico.
