Pueblo man, Anthony Sena, gets life for killing grandmother, burning body

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) -- A jury has convicted a Pueblo man of killing his grandmother and burning her body.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports29-year-old Anthony Sena was convicted Tuesday of several charges, including first-degree murder, in the July 2015 death of 77-year-old Susan Hernandez. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Hernandez was found in her home with blunt-force trauma to the head after emergency crews responded to a report of a fire.

Prosecutors argued money paid by Hernandez to Sena for a roofing job served as a motive in the killing. They said Hernandez wrote Sena two checks for the work, but the job was never started and the money was never paid back.

Defense attorneys argued no evidence pointed to Sena as the killer, and tension over the job didn't serve as a reason for him to kill his grandmother.
