DENVER — Denver Jail officials opened an internal investigation into how jailers handled the booking and processing of their boss’ niece last week.

Jaime Webb, 29, is the niece of Denver’s Director of Safety Stephanie O’Malley, who is head of the city’s law enforcement, fire department and jail. Webb is also the granddaughter of former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb.

Webb was arrested and booked into the Denver County Jail Sep. 8 for allegedly damaging a friend’s car during an argument over a boyfriend on July 9. The damage claim is only $150.

Records show a court issued a protective order that prohibits Webb from contacting the alleged victim.

Jail officials did not release any other details of how they handled Webb’s booking, only stating, “The investigation was initiated by the Internal Affairs Office and is focused on how she was booked and processed into the Denver County Jail.”

Webb was released from jail on Friday a personal recognizance bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 7.
