DENVER – Police are looking for the suspect involved in a shooting that left two people injured in Denver Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the area around the intersection of Leetsdale Drive and South Holly Street around 4:30 p.m. Police said two victims were taken to area hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Investigators said Wednesday evening that it all started with a confrontation in the 1000 block of South Parker Road between the two victims and the suspect.

Brian Powers, who owns a nearby business and saw the shooting take place, said a car and a pickup were chasing each other down Leetsdale, running red lights when there was an exchange of gunfire between the vehicles.

When the pickup tried to make a turn and got stuck in traffic, the driver of the car got out and started firing into the pickup at close range, firing several times into both the driver's and passenger's sides of the truck, Powers said.

Powers said the gunman got back in the car and left the scene.

Officers have yet to locate the suspect, who they identified as being a heavy-set Hispanic male weighing about 230 pounds. He is bald and was wearing a bright green t-shirt. The suspect's vehicle was described as a hunter green sedan, possibly at 1990s Buick.

Leetsdale Drive was closed between Jersey and Holly streets for about three hours as investigators combed the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting is asked to call the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office at (303) 795-4711 immediately.
