Editor's Note: This story was altered after Denver police corrected their report and said eight people had been arrested, not nine.
DENVER — Denver police arrested a group of people Tuesday evening after they allegedly trespassed at the Denver Police Academy, which is used for police training.
Police noticed the group around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the academy, which is located along the 2100 block of N. Akron Way. Eight people were subsequently arrested.
It's not yet clear what the group intended to do, but they damaged a perimeter fence and defaced signs, police said.
Police said six vehicles were also impounded after an initial investigation.
An investigation is underway to determine if there are any additional suspects in connection to this incident.
Police arrested the following people:
- Jonathan Vogel, 18: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglary tools
- Juvenile: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglary tools
- Rosemary Rianoshek, 19: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass
- Janette Steedley, 36: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass
- Richard Gonzales, 31: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass
- Christina Gatlin, 29: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass
- Benjamin Behrman, 20: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass
- Juvenile: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass\
Lukas Leatham-Simbeck, 19, was detained and released without formal arrest.
Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said reckless efforts to harm people and property in Denver are "inexcusable and will not be tolerated.”
This incident remains under investigation.
