A man was expected to survive after being wounded by Lakewood police in the Windsor Apartment complex.

Police agents were called to the complex around 10:15 p.m. Sunday when a caller said they were chased by a man with a gun after leaving a party.

Agents responded and began searching  the complex off West Eastman Place near South Wadsworth Boulevard north of West Hampden Avenue.

The suspect was found inside one of the apartments.

"The agents began negotiating with the subject, but he refused to come out without the gun," said Lakewood police in a press release.

He did eventually leave the apartment but was still armed, according to police.

They shot the man and took him into custody before rushing him to the hospital.

His injuries were described as "non-life threatening."

No officers or civilians were injured in the shooting.

The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team was called into investigate.
