COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Police on Tuesday asked for the public’s help finding a man who tried to pull a teenage girl into his car in the parking lot of a Colorado Springs shopping center.

Police said a 15-year-old girl was walking home from school about about 5 p.m. Thursday when she was confronted by a man in the parking lot of 901 Academy Boulevard North.

The girl told police the man told her to get into his car and when she refused, he got out of the car, grabbed her by the jacket and tried to force her into the vehicle. The girl escaped the man’s grasp and ran away.

Police described the suspect as a heavy-set Hispanic man in his 40s and about 6 feet tall. He has a distinctive tattoo of thorns across his neck and was wearing a white V-neck t-shirt and black jeans. The suspect was driving a dirty white late-2000s sedan. The car likely has a green and white Colorado plate with “40” somewhere in the license plate number.

Anyone with information on this case should call Colorado Springs police at 719-444-7000. Anonymous tips can be made through Crime Stoppers by calling 719-634-7867.
