LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Police are looking for a suspect or suspects who broke into a gun store in Lakewood early Wednesday.
Dispatchers said officers responded to The Gun Room at Colfax and Carr around 3 a.m. after someone drove a car through the store’s front doors.
When officers arrived at the store, the car was still there but there were no suspects in sight. An interior gate had stopped the car from going all the way through and the suspects were unable to enter the store, police said.
Police determined the car to be stolen and started checking nearby gun stores. Shortly after 4 a.m., an officer spotted two vehicles drive into the parking lot of Green Mountain Guns, 3355 S. Yarrow St., and a man got out of one of the vehicles and pulled on the front doors, police said.
Officers approached the vehicles and took two people into custody. Officers said both vehicles had been reported stolen.
This is the latest in a string of recent gun store burglaries. Last week, federal authorities offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to arrests in any of the cases.
