Man shot to death in broad daylight in Aurora neighborhood; suspect at large

AURORA, Colo. – Police are looking for a suspect after a shooting in an Aurora neighborhood left one man dead.

The shooting occurred Thursday around 3 p.m. near East Louisiana Avenue and South Yampa Way, near Buckley Air Force Base. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unknown.

Police have yet to release suspect information, but investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and don’t believe there is a threat to others in the community. Investigators are following on up leads and interviewing witnesses.

Aerial footage from AIRTRACKER7 showed investigators around what looked to be clothing in the middle of a residential street. Crime tape covered a broad swath of the area.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time. 

This is the second fatal shooting in Arapahoe County in less than a week. A 26-year-old man was shot and killed at Cherry Creek State Parkover the weekend. Jackson Chavez's accused killer, Joseph Wayne Washington, 29, was arrested Monday. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
