LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- A special case in Lakewood remains unsolved, so police there took matters into their own hands. They raised money and replaced a young girl's stolen bag.
Police say a thief stole 7-year-old Taylor's bag from inside her car. The bag served as Taylor's go-to pack for treatment, filled with items inside that comforted her.
Agents within the Lakewood Police Department took matters into their hands, although they've yet to find a suspect.
They began writing advice and words of hope for Taylor, raising nearly $200 to buy her a new bag, stuffed to the brim with books, crayons, stuffed animals, markers and more.
The family also received gift cards, a dinner out for her parents and some Lakewood Police Department gear.
To top it all off, Lakewood's Susie Sweets donated a bag of cookies for the family.
The look on Taylor's face as she received her surprise told a story of gratitude.
Family member Rhonda Slade said, "You all are the Angels my family needed, and I can't help you enough for helping my family out!"
