LITTLETON, Colo. — A man is facing several charges after police say he stole a mail truck in Lakewood Tuesday and used it in a hit-and-run crash with a medic vehicle before being found slumped over the wheel near a Littleton brewery.
Lakewood police received a call around 10:45 a.m. A postal worker in the 300 block of South Harlan Street told police their truck was stolen.
A short while later, the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Dasha Hicks, allegedly crashed into a West Metro Fire medic vehicle at 1107 South Sheridan Boulevard and took off. No injuries were reported.
Littleton Police eventually caught up with the stolen mail truck near Breckinridge Brewery in the 2900 block of Brewery Lane.
Police say Hicks was found slumped over behind the wheel and was taken to detox. He is facing charges of first degree motor vehicle theft, hit-and-run, and DUI.
It's unclear how badly the vehicle was damaged or what was recovered from the truck.
