DENVER - Paramedics who were called to the scene of a two car crash were surprised to learn that a man in one of the vehicles had been shot.
Denver Police say the 911 call came in around 3:20 Saturday afternoon.
When the paramedics arrived, they found a small compact coupe had slammed into a parked quad cab pickup truck on the 3100 block of west Kentucky. They also discovered that the man inside the coupe had been shot.
Denver Police told Denver7 that the driver was transported to a local hospital but he didn't survive.
While the homicide unit was called in to investigate, police did not immediately label the death a homicide. They simply said it was a death investigation.
One neighbor told Denver7 she heard a loud crash, ran out side but didn't see anything.
There was no broken glass on the street and neighbors Denver7 talked with said they didn't hear any gunshots.
It's not known yet whether the driver was shot elsewhere and continued driving until he crashed on West Kentucky.
Police worked late into the night canvassing the neighborhood to see there were any witnesses.
A three block section of West Kentucky was shut down during the investigation.
