WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A former employee of Pinnacle Charter School in Thornton is accused of a sexual encounter with a student, police announced Tuesday.
Mary Victoria Segura was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, according to a news release from the Westminster Police Department.
School officials made the announcement in a letter emailed to parents Tuesday.
Police accuse Segura of committing the alleged sexual assault on Jan. 13 off school grounds in the 4900 block of 93rd Avenue in Westminster. Police are not releasing information on the victim.
It’s not clear what position Segura held at the K-12 charter school. The suspect's name is not listed on an online staff directory for the school.
However, in an email to parents, school officials wrote that as a result of an investigation, “the staff member is no longer employed at the Pinnacle Charter School.”
Denver7 has reached out to the school for additional details regarding Segura's employment, but have yet to hear back.
