DENVER — Adding a furry family member seems like a great idea to many under stay-at-home orders.
Milo is the newest member of Carleigh Lider's family.
"I saw that they were doing virtual adoptions, and I was like, perfect. This is a good opportunity for me," Lider said.
She filled out an online application with the Denver Dumb Friends League and set up a virtual appointment with an adoption counselor, or perhaps, pet matchmaker.
"To listen to the type of pet you are looking for, see what we have available and pair you up, so yeah, it's pet-people matchmaking," Dumb Friends League spokesperson Maia Brusseau said.
"In my case, they said, 'we think Milo is great for you,'" Lider added.
The Dumb Friends League has seen a high number of people lately looking to adopt animals, with appointments needing to be scheduled a couple of weeks away, which is also why no pictures are shown on their website.
"So most likely, the pet you fall in love with three weeks from now probably won't be available for adoption any longer, but we'll be able to pair you up with the perfect pet anyway," Brusseau said.
People do get to see pics after choosing a pet, but the first time they meet.
"I basically drove up, and they put a cat in my car, and it's strange, but it's worked out really well," Lider said.
Proving love is blind, even on four legs.
