Person pulled from Thornton house fire dies

THORNTON, Colo. — A person removed from a burning home by firefighters in Thornton Monday night has died, the department announced Tuesday.

The fire broke out at a home, 11848 St. Paul Circle, around 7 p.m. There’s no word on what caused the fire.

Thornton firefighters, with assistance from North Metro Fire Rescue, encountered heavy smoke upon arrival, but quickly had the flames under control.

The tri-level home was searched, and firefighters found one resident inside. The person was removed from the house, given medical treatment, and transported to a local hospital where staff later announced the patient had died.

The victim’s name and cause and manner of death have yet to be released.

Thornton firefighters say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
