You may notice your Facebook friends smashing each other’s faces with cupcakes this month.

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and a social media hashtag #SmashingPediatricCancer is going viral in support of the cause.

As part of the challenge one participant smashes a cupcake into the face of another participant and they challenge three others to do the same.

This effort is an attempt to raise awareness about pediatric cancer.

Cancer it is the leading cause of death by disease after infancy among children in the United States.

In 2014, it’s estimated that 15,780 were diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and 1,960 went on to die of the disease.

Denver 7 anchor and reporter Adam Hammondtook the challenge with his daughter Kinney. Watch the clip below and like his Facebook page.
