DENVER — Police closed down both directions of East Hampden Avenue at South Galena Street early Thursday after a person was struck by an SUV while crossing the street.
The collision occurred around 4:15 a.m.
Police said the victim suffered serious head injuries. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.

Police said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time.
Hampden was back open by about 6 a.m.
