PARKER, Colo. — The Parker Police Department is taking "farm-to-table" to a new level. On the department property off of Lincoln Meadows Parkway in Parker, officers are tending to two garden beds with plants, gardening materials and fencing all donated by businesses in the community.

The Parker Parks Department built the AmpleHarvest.org garden, complete with two bee boxes supporting the pollinator population. Over the past four years, the garden has produced thousands of pounds of produce to donate to the Parker Task Force food pantry.

Parker Police Officer Dawn Cashman goes into the garden each week to pick vegetables and deliver them to Parker Task Force. Officer Cashman said the garden is her way of incorporating her passion and talents in the garden into her work as a police officer to benefit the community.

"Everybody out there if they can just plant one squash, a tomato plant or something in their garden and give their ample harvest to a local food bank that would go a long way," said Officer Cashman.

If you have extra produce in your garden, Denver7 found other locations in the Denver metro area taking donations. You can put in your zip code on the Ample Harvest.org website and a list of locations will pop up near you.
