Parker Police begin wearing body cams

Posted

Parker residents may notice their officers look a little different. They’re now wearing body cameras.

All officers will wear them in order to record interactions between police and citizens.

“These cameras reinforce our dedication to transparency and commitment to quality service,” said Parker Police Chief David King.

National studies on the use of body cameras show a drop in use-of-force by officers and an even larger drop in complaints against officers, the Parker Police Department says.

The recorded video may be used as evidence in court proceedings.

Five officers began wearing cameras months ago in a pilot program. They have to be turned on manually for each interaction.
