PARK COUNTY, Colo. – The Park County Sheriff fielded questions from the public just one day after releasing new details about the murder of a Colorado teen.

Maggie Long was killed on December 1, 2017, in her family’s Bailey home. A lack of information about the case has frustrated the community, leading to fear and rumors about what happened.

“My intention was to get out here and try to see what we could do about this case and to get the public involved and let them know we’re working on it,” said Sheriff Tom McGraw.

Sheriff McGraw has only been on the job for three weeks, but he’s making an effort to answer some of the questions that have persisted for more than a year. On Tuesday, he released new information letting the public know Long’s home was targeted.

He also said she was burned alive inside that home. Her killers are still at-large. Investigators believe at least three men were involved and they released sketches that depicted two of them.

The sheriff then invited the community to a forum at Fitzsimmons Middle School to discuss the case. He gave a brief synopsis of the new details before opening up the room for questions.

“Well, I just wanted to come and try to get a little bit of closure, some more information,” said Kristin Barber, who worked for the victim’s family and knew Long for years.

During the meeting, the sheriff’s office passed out flyers showing items that were stolen from the home. It included sketches of the suspects and pictures of the vehicles they could’ve been driving.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in the homicide of Maggie Long. A website has also been created to provide the latest information about the case.
