Man in town for train convention shot by robbers

Posted

A man visiting friends in Colorado woke in the middle of the night to find masked home intruders. Police say they shot him, possibly because of drugs at the house.

The 74-year-old victim heard the men around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Police say two suspects broke into the house, in the 7400 block of Julian Street, where the victim was staying.

The man will undergo surgery for a gunshot wound and is expected to survive. He is in town from out-of-state for a model train convention.

Westminster Police say they found a large marijuana grow and hash operation at the home, which may have been the motivation for this robbery.

If anyone has information they are asked to call the Westminster Police Department at 303-658-4360 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
