Colorado is one week away from Election Day. Hundreds of thousands of people have already cast their ballots and many more will do so before Nov. 6.

Here are a few tips to make sure your vote counts:

Voter registration

It’s not too late to register to vote. You can register all the way up through Election Day. However, Monday was the deadline to register in order to have a mail-in ballot sent to you.

From now until Election Day, you will need to either pick up your ballot, fill it out and drop it off again, or vote in person.

Here’s more information on registering to vote.

What to do with your ballot

The Colorado Secretary of State’s office sent out an announcement Monday urging voters not to mail in their ballots anymore, but to drop them off in-person to make sure they make it in time.

There are numerous 24-hour ballot drop-off boxes spread out around the counties.

Not sure where to drop off your ballot? Here’s how to find the location closest to you.

Check out a sample ballot

There are dozens of people and issues that appear on the 2018 ballot. Some of the elections are high-profile, such as the gubernatorial race. Many others are much smaller, including various sheriff’s, coroner’s and surveyor’s races among others.

There are also several constitutional issues to be decided upon that are not as high-profile, such as the transportation and oil and gas setback measures.

Check on your ballot

After you submit your ballot, you can track it to make sure your vote counts.

Voters can check their ballot status on the Colorado Secretary of State's website. Click on "Find my registration," type in your voter information and click enter. Then, scroll down the page and look for "Mail ballot status."

It will list the 2016 General Election and your status should read “accepted” or “rejected.”
