CENTENNIAL, Colo. – An Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested at work last month on suspicion of being intoxicated while on the job.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said a coworker reported Deputy Jeffrey Vincent after smelling alcohol on his breath shortly after Vincent began his shift on Jan. 3, 2017.
Vincent was booked and released on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and prohibited use of a weapon, for having his weapon on him while allegedly intoxicated.
The sheriff’s office said Vincent drove to work and drove a county vehicle to transport an inmate to the courthouse.
The sheriff’s office praised coworkers who reported Vincent and took immediate action.
“They did the right thing in what was certainly a difficult circumstance involving both a friend and colleague,” Public Information Officer Julie Brooks said.
Vincent was suspended without pay pending the results of a criminal investigation.
